In March 2025, 01node and Buidly, in partnership with Comets of Web3, hosted the Build on Sui: Technical Workshop in Bucharest, Romania. The event, supported by the Sui Foundation, brought together over 150 blockchain builders for two days of hands-on learning, technical deep dives, and ecosystem networking.
Why Sui?
01node’s involvement with Sui goes beyond validation. We believe Sui represents one of the most technically ambitious L1 architectures in the current landscape. The Move programming language—developed originally for Meta’s Diem project—offers a fundamentally different approach to smart contract safety through its ownership-based resource model.
For validators, Sui’s object-centric data model creates unique infrastructure demands: high-throughput parallel transaction processing requires significantly different storage and compute optimization compared to traditional sequential-execution chains.

Romania’s Growing Blockchain Scene
Bucharest is emerging as a significant hub for blockchain development in Eastern Europe. The combination of strong technical talent, competitive operating costs, and a growing community of web3 builders makes Romania an attractive base for blockchain infrastructure and development.
01node has been headquartered in Bucharest since our founding in 2019. Our data center and engineering team operate from Romania, and we are proud to contribute to the local ecosystem through events like the Sui workshop and our participation in Crypto Expo Europe and ETH Bucharest conferences.
From Workshop to Inside SUI
The connections formed at the Build on Sui workshop directly inspired our “Inside SUI” video series—a short-form content initiative exploring the ideas, people, and technology behind the Sui ecosystem. With five episodes released so far, the series covers everything from Sui’s Facebook/Diem origins to the DeFi protocols building on the network.
